Located just outside the town of San Ignacio, near Belize's western border with Guatemala, Windy Hill resort is located in 100 acres of rainforest, and lush tropical gardens with views down towards the coast (though you can’t see it!).

The resort has a central restaurant and bar, swimming pool surrounded by wooden decking and local style timber constructed bungalows dotted amongst well tended gardens and grounds. Each room has en suite bathroom, a small sitting area and private verandah.

The owner of Windy Hill is a keen Elvis fan, and it is said that he has even recently been seen walking the grounds. Elvis that is, not the owner!

Windy Hill offers a variety of modular packages from 2 nights to 7 nights in duration that take in a variety of different aspects of the local area. Half day canoe trips down the Macal River to see egrets, iguanas and other wildlife (no piranhas, you’re lucky!); 4WD trips to the Rio Frio Caves, Mountain Pine Ridge and the spectacular Hidden valley Falls; rainforest treks in Guanacaste National Park to see jaguarundi, armadillo, agouti, white tailed deer, iguana, and several species of bats and opossum. Over one hundred species of birds have been spotted including Blue-crowned Motmots, Black-faced Ant-thrush, Smoky-Brown Woodpecker, Black-headed Trogon, Squirrel Cuckoo, Bright-rumped Attila and white-breasted Wood-Wren.

For the culture vulture there are trips to Xanuntunich and Caracol Mayan ruins, located within Belize, but for the true aficionado of all things Mayan an overnight trip to the largest Mayan city in Central America, Tikal in Guatemala is a must. Waking before down to climb the highest pyramid to watch the sun rise over the surrounding rainforest, looking down at the monkeys chattering through the trees below you is a site that you will never forget!
