In Northern Egyptian waters, we are using Whirlwind,
a brand new (May 2006) vessel that is part of the Tornado
fleet. Spacious and comfortable, this 36m vessel has
10 en suite cabins with twin beds and air conditioning,
a large saloon for relaxing in the cool, and both indoor
and outdoor eating areas. Her large dive deck has benches
with individual areas for each diver, with tank rack
and gears storage. Both Nitrox and Trimix facilities
are available for suitably qualified divers. Two 5.2m
ribs with 55hp outboards ferry divers to sites swiftly
and in comfort, or diving can be done off the back deck.
Between dives there is a vast sun deck with hot tub,
loungers and shaded area for you to relax and enjoy
the sites of the Northern Egyptian coastline. Delicious
international cuisine is served from a modern and well-equipped
galley, and snacks are always available for those who
are feeling peckish between meals. For those who want
to stay out of the heat, the saloon has a plasma screen,
stereo and a well-stocked bar for after dive congeniality.
Whirlwind is based in Sharm El Sheikh - just
a few hours sail south is legendary Ras Mohammed marine
park and the fabled wrecks of Gubal and Shadwan Islands
and Sha’ab Abu Nuhas. She offers a variety of
weekly itineraries including special wreck trips that
take in the aforementioned wreck areas, the Thistlegorm,
Dunraven, Giannis D and other famous
ships. Wreck and reef combination trips cover the Straits
of Tiran, Ras Mohammed and its precipitous walls, Abu
Nuhas and the Thistlegorm. The Brothers Wreck itineraries
take in the wrecks of the northern areas, but with her
ocean going stability and exceptional range and speed,
Whirlwind can also take in the Brothers Islands
in a weekly itinerary.
