Not many things compete with the views and services of Tufi Resort
except for the diving! Whether it's hammerhead sharks, mantas, eaglerays,
turtles, schools of barracuda, the occasional dugong or the many
wrecks - some of which have not even been named yet - Tufi has pretty
much everything! For the officianado of critters, muck diving will
astound you: nudibranchs of all colors and shapes, Mandarin fish,
ghost pipefish, pygmy seahorses and a plethora of other fascinating
creatures. Hard & soft corals compete for your attention in
a pristine environment where visibility is measured in terms of
140-150 feet!
- STEWART REEF
The "house reef" offers superb diving both day and night.
Here you can wall dive amongst soft corals, fans and a very healthy
fish population. Excellent hard corals and sea whips entice you
in visibility that seems endless. Epaulette sharks, decorator
crabs, octopus and morey eels come out to play at night making
this a great night dive.
- PAUL'S REEF
This small patch of reef draws a slight current that entices reef
sharks, turtles, barracuda and Spanish mackerel. On the reef top,
amongst the prolific staghorn corals are spiny lobster & morey
eels. The reef walls support great growths of soft corals and
fans.
- TONY'S BOMMIE
A favorite of the dive team! This deep dive provides experienced
divers with the opportunity to see large schools of barracuda,
sharks and pelagics. Frequent regular visitors to this dive site
are manta rays and giant groupers. Tony's Bommie always has great
action going on and never disappoints!
- CYCLONE REEF
This is just one of the many outer reefs - some of which have
not even earned names yet. Dogtooth tuna and sharks patrol amongst
the numerous schools of fish. Wall dives, drift dives excite the
experienced divers while nearby reef patches on a sandy bottom
beckon our newer divers and offer great snorkeling as well.
- VEALE REEF
An excellent dive site on an astounding reef. In a region where
typical visibility can be 130ft this reef site often offers 165ft
visibility. All the better to dive this steep wall where hammerhead
sharks, dogtooth tuna, Spanish mackerel, reef sharks and other
pelagics compete for your attention. The reef top is carpeted
with staghorn and plate corals in excellent condition. Cuts and
crevices sculpture the drop-off and giant sponges are prolific.
You can spend your safety stop amongst schools of small fish on
the top of this pristine reef.
- TUFI WHARF
The resort wharf will never cease to amaze you! Perched at the
tip of land dividing two fjords, this area was a base for US PT
boats during WW11. Here you can dive in and out of the remains
of two PT boats - including a deck gun and loaded torpedo tube.
In shallower waters you can spend countless tanks of air and rolls
of film with fascinating critters which include an amazing array
of nudibranchs.
- YOUR NAME REEF
On many exploratory dives you'll have the opportunity to discover
and perhaps name one of the many new sites that are being discovered
every week! Wether it's a wall dive, a new reef or bommie or perhaps
even a previously undiscovered wreck - your imagination and adrenaline
will be challenged on these exploratory excursions.
