There are two fringing reef systems at Rurutu. That on the east coast runs from the village of Anaaro to just north of Peva, and that on the west coast from Vitaria to Narui. It is into the shallow lagoons within the fringing reefs that the humpback whales come to calve and tend to their young. There are no specific dive sites in Rurutu that we would specifically recommend - you are there to snorkel with humpbacks and so follow them in the tender and slip into the water with them when convenient!
