| Mermaid I |
| |
| It seems strange that a new boat be called Mermaid I,
when you consider Mermaid II already exists. But here you
are! Mermaid I is a 94ft dive vessel with exacting accommodation
for just 11 passengers. This makes her one of the most spacious
dive vessels on the market, anywhere in the world, let alone Thailand!
All 6 cabins are on the main deck, thus allowing them to have picture
windows. While all 6 cabins have double beds below and single bunks
above, one is sold as a single cabin for those travelling alone
and looking for some privacy! All cabins have air-conditioning,
of course, and en suite bathrooms. The 6 cabins are all accessed
through private doorways along both sides of the main deck.
To say the dive deck is huge would be an understatement! It is 20ft
wide and 12 ft deep, stretching across the entire beam of the boat.
For only 11 guests this provides ample space, with individual gear
bins, tanks racks and dedicated camera & gear rinse areas. A
massive dive platform at the stern allows easy entry & exit.
The whole dive deck is shaded. Fresh water deck showers are available
for those who just want a quick rinse off.
The lower deck is taken up with the modern engine room, crews' quarters
and photographic lab, where daily E6 processing is available.
On the upper deck can be found the air-conditioned open-plan dining
area and saloon, with an intimate area with TV & video off to
the side. Meals are either eaten in here or can be served al fresco
on the large shaded sundeck area astern of the saloon. The open-air
bar is a great place to enjoy a cool drink, enjoy the sunset and
reminisce over the day's events!
Mermaid I will be running 10 night cruises to Thailand's
Similan Islands, the Surin region and into Burma's Mergui Archipelago.
Trips will start from Phuket.
Mermaid I is perhaps the most luxurious dive boat in Thailand
- with an attentive crew of up to 15 catering for the needs of jut
11 guests, hitech communications and navigation systems, well laid
out dive deck and sumptuous accommodation she offers a service second
to none.
